We’re the Dentist NYC Patients Trust to Fix Damaged Teeth

We are a local dentist NYC families count on to repair their teeth and to correct oral health problems. It is important to visit a dentist that can help to prevent your teeth from becoming damaged, and correct them if they do. Regular teeth cleanings, fluoride treatments, brushing and flossing can all help to keep your teeth strong and in good condition. Preventative care is an important first step because if your tooth has even a small amount of decay it will be less resilient during an accident.

Unfortunately, accidents happen and no matter how strong your teeth are they can still become chipped or cracked in a car accident, while rough-housing, or playing sports. These accidents can cause small to minor damaged to your teeth. The goal is to fix that damage quickly and to preserve your natural teeth whenever possible.

As a local dentist NYC patients will often come to us in an emergency situation after their tooth has become damaged. Our first step is to inspect their damaged tooth, the area surrounding it, and nearby teeth to determine the overall health of the area and what options are available for correcting it. We typically recommend keeping your natural tooth, even if it is damaged. There are exceptions to this that may require the tooth to be removed and replaced instead.

One of the ways we can repair a damaged tooth is with a crown. This is commonly done when there is additional tooth decay that needs to be removed, as well. A crown provides additional stability as it wraps all the way around your existing tooth. Previously, they were made of metal only but now come in natural looking options, as well.

If you don’t need a crown, a dental veneer is an excellent way to correct a damaged tooth. A veneer is placed on top of your natural tooth, so the process is much faster than an implant. Before a veneer can be made a mold needs to be taken of your teeth. The lab will create your veneer, or veneers, and match it to your existing tooth in shape, size and color. If you don’t like the color of your teeth, consider having them whitened before the veneer is made.

When the veneer is ready we will shave down your existing tooth so that, once placed, it can lay flat and be in line with your gums. We will also place grooves on the top of your teeth so that when the cement glue is applied it won’t slide off. The veneer will be placed on top of your tooth and positioned perfectly. Once in place it will look completely natural, and you will be able to eat all of your favorite foods without worrying about it becoming damaged again.

With both veneers and dental crowns you can eat and drink like normal and care for them as you would your natural teeth. If you need a dentist NYC residents can schedule an appointment to have their damaged tooth inspected and repaired by calling our office.
